This is the true story of Championship
skier Jill Kinmont, a shoo-in for a berth on the 1956 Winter Olympics team, who
suffered a near fatal accident while racing down the slopes in the 1955 Snow
Cup Race at Alta, Utah. With five crushed vertebrae and a severed spinal cord,
the young Californian found herself almost totally paralyzed from the neck
down. Her brilliant athletic career was finished…but it was not her will to
live a meaningful life. Thanks to the love of Dick Buek, an irrepressible
skier-flyer who chides her for letting herself go, she is pushed to the limits
of her physical strength.
