Jet Pilot, director Josef Von
Sternberg's only color film, is a Cold War comedy in which an Air Force Colonel
(John Wayne) assigned to extract military secrets from a supposedly defecting
Soviet jet pilot (Janet Leigh) falls in love with his beautiful charge. After
he marries her, the Pentagon instructs him to jet to the Soviet Union with his
new bride, feigning conversion to her cause but actually on a mission of
espionage. When the Russians discover the deception, the Colonel and his wife
are forced to make a daring escape back to the Free World.
