An incisive comedy, THE APARTMENT is the story of a young office worker (Jack Lemmon) who moves up in status by lending his apartment to his bosses for illicit rendezvous. Shirley MacLaine plays the girl he finds near suicide after her heart is broken by one of those amorous executives (Fred MacMurray).
