DINER
Steve Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, Mickey Rourke,
Kevin Bacon, Timothy Daly, Ellen Barkin, Paul Reiser
Turner/MGM; Directed by Barry Levinson
Rated R; 110 minutes; 1982
A nostalgic, funny, highly personal memoir of a group of young men in their early 20s, hanging out at their favorite diner in Baltimore, 1959. This was a time of innocence, when sex was something to giggle about, but never have, and friendship and loyalty were crucial. Steve Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, and Mickey Rourke are excellent as the young men who have their whole lives in front of them, but for now they are happy being at the diner.
