Joe (Jon Voight), a naïve Texan, is convinced he can make a living in the city by selling himself to lonely rich women. He befriends Ratso Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman), a seedy, crippled con-artist. The film focuses on the relationship between the two and shows how people can survive the ferocity of our world with a bit of trust and a bond of friendship.
