Based on the acclaimed novel by Bernard Malamud, THE FIXER is the dramatic story of Jewish handyman Yakov Bok (Alan Bates) who, in Czarist Russia, attempts to pass himself off as a gentile to avoid persecution. The film follows his travail in prison to his demand for a trial where his predicament is seen as symbolic of all those who suffer the indignity of prejudice and injustice.
