HOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE
Robert Townsend
Samuel Goldwyn; Directed by Robert Townsend
Rated R; 82 Minutes; 1987
The plight of the Black actor in 1980's Hollywood is hilariously examined in Robert Townsend's HOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE. Townsend, a new leader of the rising Black film community, portrays Bobby Taylor, a struggling young actor battling with his principles and his desire to find acting work. Through a series of comic vignettes and with a fine ensemble cast of young actors and comedians, Townsend depicts the dreams, sacrifices and misadventures of a typical young Black actor.
