THE BIRDCAGE

Robin Williams, Gene Hackman, Dianne Wiest, Nathan Lane

MGM/UA; Directed by Mike Nichols

Rated R; 118 minutes; 1996

Gay Miami nightclub owner Armand Goldman’s (Robin Williams) son is marrying the daughter of a rigidly conservative senator (Gene Hackman). Before Armand and his longtime drag queen partner, Albert (Nathan Lane) meet the future in-laws, they try to tone down Albert’s rather extravagant mannerisms in this comical spin on LA CAGE AUX FOLLES.
