Based on a true story, this is the touching drama about a heroic doctor’s challenge to revitalize victims of a sleeping sickness epidemic that immobilized more than 5 million people in the 1920s. Leonard Lowe (Robert De Niro) is lost in a 30-year, sleep-like state in which he is aware, yet unable to speak or move. An eccentric doctor (Robin Williams) alone believes that Leonard can be rescued from his catatonic state.
