When Jeff Taylor (Kurt Russell) accepts
a new job in San Diego, he decides to drive from Boston with his wife, Amy
(Kathleen Quinlan). Their future seems to be heading towards fantastic new
beginnings until their car stalls on a remote highway. Fortunately, a vehicle
appears on the horizon and the driver suggests that they ride with him to the
nearest phone at a local diner. Amy agrees, she’ll call the nearest garage from
the restaurant while Jeff waits with the car. Once the car is back in working
order Jeff drives to the diner to catch up with Amy. But when he arrives, Amy
and Red have disappeared without a trace.
