Danny (Robert Sean Leonard), a man with AIDS has returned home to his estranged family to die. His parents (Glenn Close and David Strathairn) and sister (Bridget Fonda) are unable to express themselves honestly about his illness and the subject is avoided. Knowing he has little time left, Danny tries to create a more meaningful relationship with his mother. They eventually move beyond their fears and discover more about each other’s lives.
