Mike McDermott (Matt Damon) is a master card player who's attempting to stake out a legitimate road to success, trading the poker-playing rounds for law school and a shot at a new life with his girlfriend. When a longtime friend is released from prison, Mike must decide to keep out of trouble or seek the thrills and excitement he's been missing.
