Bill Paxton’s stars in A BRIGHT SHINING LIE an adaptation of Neil Sheehan’s 1988 Pulitzer Prize-winning book about one man’s epic odyssey through the Vietnam War. A firm believer in e need to defeat communist expansion in Asia, Bill Paxton portrays Lieutenant John Paul Vann, one of the first U.S. military advisers sent to Vietnam. His involvement in the war spanned ten years, a period of time that included his resignation from the Army as well as his return to the center of the Vietnam conflict as a civilian appointee of President Nixon, advocating extensive bombing and full-scale invasions of Laos and North Vietnam.
