This sweeping romantic adventure of love, honor, tragedy, and triumph is set against Mexico's fight for independence from the iron fist of Spain. Twenty years have passed since Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins) fought oppression as the legendary hero, Zorro. In an attempt to find a worthy successor, the old man latches onto a drifter (Antonio Banderas), whom Zorro transforms into the fearless romantic hero he once was. Armed with his mask, sword, whip and jet-black stallion Tornado, the new Zorro emerges.
