Based on the 1987 NFL players strike, everyone from a washed-up college quarterback to a less-than-stable cop to an ex-soccer player with a volatile temper are recruited by the Washington Sentinels to play out the season. Their coach (Gene Hackman) is in for the challenge of his life as he transforms a makeshift group of wannabes into all-star football champions.
