Academy Award© winner Hilary Swank stars in this true story of Countess Jeanne de la Motte-Valois and the notorious "Affair of the Diamond Necklace." The film is set in late 18th century France and Jeanne de la Motte-Valois is a young woman who leaves her adopted home in search of what she suspects may be her royal heritage which was stripped from her. Her fight to restore her name and place in society finds her embroiled in a situation that involves her dishonest husband (Brody), a diamond necklace, a Cardinal, Marie Antoinette, and quite astonishingly ... the beginnings of the French Revolution.
