Prot (Spacey) is a patient at a mental hospital who claims to be from the planet K-PAX. Jeff Bridges is the psychiatrist who tries to convince him otherwise, only to begin doubting himself. Prot is having an amazing affect on the mental health of the other patients at the institution.
