Elling is an emotionally challenged man who ends up in a state institution when his mom dies. He befriends a gentle giant named Kjell. The odd couple end up being released at the same time and decide to brave the outside world together. Their unusual take on things that most people take for granted such as answering a phone provides plenty of laughs in this dark “dramedy.” The two eventually find that they cannot only survive in the real world, they can also attain their dreams.
