J (Duvall) is a veteran hitman sent to assassinate a General in Argentina. When he finds that his mission is delayed
three months he finds company with Manuela, a beautiful dancer who brings him
into the sensual world of tango. The
reality of his situation comes crashing down around him when he realizes he must
leave this fantasy, complete his the assassination and return home to his wife
and family.
