The film opens with Jesus contending with Satan in the Garden of Olives after The Last Supper. Christ is then betrayed by Judas Iscariot, arrested and accused of blasphemy by religious leaders, flogged by the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate and ultimately condemned to an excruciating death on the cross.
