In this futuristic thriller cities are heavily controlled and traveling is only possible with documents called “papelles.” William is an investigator sent to check out a ring creating fake papelles. He meets and unexpectedly falls in love with one of the falsifiers and uses the fake papers to get back to her only to find that she may be in violation of Code 46, as her genes may be cloned from his mother.
