Based on the Broadway play written by Andrew Lloyd Webber this film tells of a mysterious disfigured musical genius who lives in the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera in the 19^th Century. He finds and tutors beautiful young Christine and thinks he has found love but when her childhood friend arrives his intentions become more diabolical.
