This film is based on the true story of Hector Lavoe, the King of Salsa. Lavoe was a Puerto Rican singer who brought the salsa movement to the U.S. in 1975. Lavoe shot to stardom, had a passionate relationship with the beautiful Puchi but even when he had it all, his personal pain caused him to fall into a world of drug addiction which eventually ended his career.
