Solo, a once-successful young novelist, finds himself unable to write, miserable and squandering his modest fortune on an expensive psychiatrist who suggests that he get a pet to overcome his neuroses. Not used to caring for anyone but himself his new dog is an instant problem but when he goes to get rid of the pet, he finds a whole new circle of friends and a new lover.
