Lt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. At work this comes to him naturally but he is having trouble applying the principle to his cooling marriage. As a final effort he decides to embark on a 40-day experiment called "the Love Dare" that necessitates being kind to his wife in an effort to rediscover what brought them together in the first place.
